Meeting Dr Millis

i spoke to sharelle in Dr Millis' office to set up an initial consult.  he sees new patients on thursday and is typically booked up for 2mos.  i had to send them my mri, xray, and dr's notes. Dr Millis and his partner Dr Young-Jo Kim review cases before deciding to see patients by checking angles of the hip/femur from the xrays.  at my initial consult at the end of Aug '10, i met Dr Millis, his PA erin, and a fellow Dr Novais. they bend your legs around, take measurements, ask questions about history and pain, and discuss options.  my dysplasia was not very severe but Dr Millis (and Dr Su) suggested that if i didn't get a PAO soon-ish, i might need a total hip done in as little as 2-5 years. so the options were: 1) PAO, 2) wait to get a total hip at a relatively young age, 3) do a labral scope (which wouldn't address the real problem), or 4) hip fusion--which is done only if there's no other treatment.  i had already decided that i would get a PAO done, so i got on the surgery calendar for nov 12 (after golf season is over).  surgery days are normally monday & friday.

my right hip is mildly dysplastic (less than the left) and Dr Millis is not sure if i will have to fix the right side too.  it's possible that fixing up my left side will influence the right side to get better angles.  we will to continue monitoring the right side after left hip surgery. of course, my mind set is that my right side will be fine.
